Taking your Pet With you When you Move Abroad

Read Time:1 Minute, 55 Second

Moving to another country is something that many people do, and many more dream of doing. If you are planning to move abroad there are lots of things to consider – for example, what will you do for work when you are there, where will you live, and will you take your stuff with you or put it into a storage facility like this self storage Dudley based storage company.

One of the trickiest things to think about is what you will do with your pets. Pets are part of the family and considering what to do when you move abroad can be hard and you need to take a lot of factors into consideration.

The first thing to do is to check what the entry requirements are for taking animals into the country that you are moving to. Many countries will require pets to be placed in quarantine, they are also likely to need to have vaccinations for illnesses to ensure that they are fit and healthy, and you will need to make sure that they are also healthy enough to travel. Your pet should also be microchipped.

If you have a pet that is elderly, or doesn’t cope well with travelling, it is worth speaking to your vet about what is best. Some people leave their pet with a trusted friend or family member rather than putting them through the stress of travelling, and of course if they have medical conditions this could impede them further.

If you are going to take them with you, the first thing that you need to look into is how you will transport them. There are companies who offer a pet courier service, and it is a good idea to look into these, how much they charge and how it all works. Make sure that your pet will be comfortable for the journey and will have the food, bedding and water that it needs.

You also need to think about the lifestyle that your pet will have when it is living in the country you are moving to. Make sure that if you are taking your pet with you that the accommodation there is suitable for it to be able to live in and have a fulfilled life where its needs are met.
